Former Minister Mahinda Amaraweera visited the Carlton House in Tangalle to inquire about the well-being of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa
The visit comes after Rajapaksa vacated his official residence at Wijerama on September 11, following the implementation of the “Presidents’ Rights Removal Act,” which requires all former presidents to return state-provided residences to the government.
Under the new provisions, Rajapaksa, who had continued to reside in the official residence, was no longer entitled to those privileges. He has since relocated to his family home, Carlton House, in Hambantota.
Since his move, a number of politicians and supporters have been visiting him to extend their well-wishes and check on his health and welfare.
