The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will pay suspended judges half of their salaries, while withholding several allowances. JSC Secretary Prasanna Alwis issued a circular to all High Court judges detailing the decision, which follows recent suspensions over various allegations.

The Ministry of Justice and National Integration’s Audit and Management Committee reviewed which allowances would accompany the reduced salaries. Only professional, personal, living expenses, and language allowances will be included.

Allowances for telephone, vehicle, driver, books, house rent, appeals, and fuel will not be paid. The JSC circular confirms these rules for all suspended judges.
