Tourist arrivals up by 30% in September

Sri Lanka recorded 158,971 tourist arrivals in September 2025, reflecting a 30.24% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

India continued to lead as the top source market with 49,697 visitors, accounting for 31.3% of total arrivals. Other key markets included the United Kingdom (10,527), Germany (9,344), China (10,527), and France (5,144).

From January 1 to September 30, 2025, Sri Lanka has welcomed 1,725,494 tourists. During this period, 375,292 visitors arrived from India, 161,893 from the UK, and 122,144 from Russia, underscoring a strong recovery and continued growth in the country’s tourism sector.
