The warning applies to areas in the Badulla (Hali Ela, Ella, Badulla, Passara), Kurunegala (Narammala), Matale (Ukuwela, Rattota), Monaragala (Badalkumbura, Bibila), and Nuwara Eliya (Kothmale) districts, along with their surrounding Divisional Secretariat divisions.
According to the NBRO, the advisory follows rainfall exceeding 75mm within the past 24 hours and a soil water index over 100mm, which increase the risk of landslides.
Residents in the affected regions have been urged to remain alert for potential landslides, slope failures, rock falls, and ground subsidence. The NBRO advises people living in high-risk areas to watch for warning signs such as cracks in the ground, tilting trees or posts, and muddy water springs.
If such signs appear, or if heavy rain persists, authorities recommend that residents move to safer locations immediately and follow official safety instructions issued by local disaster management units.
