The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has fined 50 private bus conductors for failing to issue tickets to passengers.

Chairman Gamini Jasinghe said that inspections commenced on the 1st of this month, following the enforcement of the law requiring ticket issuance in all private buses operating within the province.

Inspection teams have been deployed across the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts to ensure compliance.

The Authority further stated that conductors who fail to issue tickets will face a fine of Rs. 750, be required to attend a one-day discipline training program, and face a three-day suspension from duty.
