According to the advisory, there is a high possibility of severe lightning accompanied by thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Matale districts.
The Department also cautioned that temporary strong winds may occur during thundershowers.
The public has been urged to take necessary safety precautions to minimize risks associated with lightning.
