The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will issue its decision in two weeks on the proposal made by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) last September to increase electricity tariffs by 6.8 percent, a spokesperson said.

The final announcement is expected on or around October 15, following the conclusion of the public consultation process, which is currently underway. The last session of the Western Province consultation is scheduled for October 8, after which the decision will be finalized.
The spokesperson added that the revision will be carried out in line with the provisions of the Electricity Act and the Electricity Tariff Price Formula.
The CEB, citing an estimated deficit of Rs. 1,769 million for the October–December period, has proposed the tariff hike to offset the shortfall.
