In her petition, she has requested the court to issue an order under habeas corpus and writ jurisdiction, claiming that the detention is unlawful. She has further sought interim relief to prevent her son from being transferred out of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) until the conclusion of the case.
When the matter was taken up, counsel representing the Attorney General’s Department assured the court that the detainee would remain at the CID premises until the facts of the case are fully examined and confirmed. The counsel also informed the court that all investigations will continue while the suspect is held within CID custody.
The petition is being heard by President’s Counsel Anuja Premaratne, along with attorneys Senal Mathugana, Nalaka Samarakoon, and Rajindra Kandegedara, under the instructions of Chameera Haputhanthri. The case is scheduled to be taken up again on the 23rd.
