Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala has revealed that 68 police officers have been suspended since January due to allegations of drug trafficking.

The officers are accused of involvement in drug use and possession, prompting their immediate suspension from duty.

Minister Wijepala said that comprehensive investigations have been launched to examine the conduct of the suspended officers and to determine whether additional police personnel are involved in drug-related activities.

“These investigations are ongoing, and strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the law,” the Minister stated.
