The Police Unit for the Prevention of Sports-Related Corruption informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today that the Attorney General has decided to file indictments in the High Court against Tamim Rahman, owner of the Dambulla Thunders, over an alleged match-fixing incident during last year’s Lanka Premier League (LPL) cricket tournament.
Officials said the indictments will be filed under the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act. They requested a short date for the case to be taken up, and the Magistrate ordered it to be called again on December 5.
Rahman, a British national of Bangladeshi origin, appeared in Court on bail.
