The project, organized by the Sri Lanka Hadabima Authority under the Clean Sri Lanka program, aims to cultivate a generation that is environmentally conscious and committed to green initiatives. As part of the ceremony, the Prime Minister planted a sapling representing the Western Province, while 100 saplings were simultaneously planted by schoolchildren on the premises.
The “Soba Sipudula” initiative targets the creation of green zones in 50 selected schools and is being implemented nationwide under the patronage of governors from the remaining eight provinces.
“When our government was formed, we promised to come together and change this country. Clean Sri Lanka is a movement where all citizens can contribute to that transformational journey,” the Prime Minister said.
