Police said the man, a resident of Kandy, had been staying at the hotel for four days. When hotel staff noticed his room door remained locked for an extended period, they alerted authorities. Officers forced entry into the room and discovered him hanging.
A post-mortem examination confirmed death was due to hanging, though the cause of suicide is yet to be officially established.
Preliminary reports suggest the man may have taken his life after losing a significant sum of money at the newly opened City of Dreams casino.
Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
