Committee appointed to probe issues at Dehiattakandiya base hospital

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has appointed a four-member committee to investigate the situation at the Dehiattakandiya Base Hospital, following instructions from Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The Minister directed Health Secretary Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe to look into issues surrounding a doctor’s transfer at the hospital and submit a detailed report. Acting on these instructions, the Secretary has formally appointed the investigation committee.

The committee will be co-chaired by Deputy Director General (Investigation) of the Ministry, Mrs. Tharaka Dissanayake, and Director (Primary Health Services) Dr. W.K.W. Sarathchandra Kumarawansa, who will also serve as chairman. The other members include Assistant Secretary (Emergency Raids) H.P.P. Jayawickrama and Investigation Officer K.M.D.L. Amaratunga.

The committee has been tasked with examining the current situation at the hospital, identifying the underlying causes, and reporting on related matters. The report is to be submitted without delay.
