On April 1, 2016, officers from the Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau (P.N.B.) conducted a joint operation off the coast of Sri Lanka, arresting 17 suspects involved in importing, smuggling, and aiding the trafficking of 111 kilograms and 82 grams of heroin. The case is presently pending in the Negombo High Court.
Under the bail conditions, Abbas Shabir Hussain was required to report to the P.N.B. every Sunday. However, he has failed to comply with these conditions, and the High Court has now ordered his arrest.
