A schoolboy under the age of 18, accused of posting a nude photo of a schoolgirl online, was produced before Galle Additional Magistrate Maheshika Wijetunga and released on personal bail of Rs. 200,000.
He was subsequently handed over to his father.
The magistrate issued a stern warning, instructing the boy not to harass or pressure the victim.
Police said the incident came to light when a friend of the schoolgirl informed her elder brother that her image was being shared online. Her brother immediately lodged a complaint with the Galle Cyber Crime Investigation Division.
During the investigation, the suspect was arrested and questioned. Police revealed that the boy had pursued the girl romantically, and after she rejected him, he digitally merged her face with a nude photo and uploaded it to the internet.
