The Petroleum Distributors Association has warned that many petrol stations across the country may be forced to close soon due to low commissions paid by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association (SLPPTOA) said.
They said distributors receive only a 1.75% commission, which is not enough to cover employee salaries or the cost of running fuel stations. Despite repeated appeals, the Petroleum Corporation has not addressed their concerns, Silva added.
The association has now written to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya seeking urgent government intervention
