Sri Lanka Records Strong Growth in Tourist Arrivals

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has continued its upward momentum in 2025, with tourist arrivals reaching 126,379 by September 24, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

India remained the leading source market for the month, contributing 37,179 visitors, while the United Kingdom ranked second with 8,977 arrivals. Other key contributors included Germany (7,799), China (7,226), and Australia (7,049).

For the year to date, total arrivals have climbed to 1,692,902 tourists, underscoring the sector’s strong recovery. India accounted for the largest share with 362,774 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom (160,078), Russia (121,452), and Germany (105,443).

Industry analysts note that these numbers reflect Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as a premier travel destination, with its diverse attractions and improved global connectivity continuing to draw international travelers.
