At the invitation of the Government of Japan, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is on an official visit to Japan, is scheduled to meet with the Sri Lankan community in Tokyo this afternoon (28).
The President arrived in Japan yesterday (27), commencing his three-day official visit. On arrival, he was warmly received by Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akio Isomata, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan Prof. Pivithuru Janaka Kumara Singha, and senior officials of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his first day, President Dissanayake attended the “Sri Lanka Day” celebrations at Expo 2025 in Osaka as the chief guest. The event was jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan.
This morning (28), the President travelled from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo, where he is scheduled to engage with members of the Sri Lankan community.
In the coming days, President Dissanayake is also expected to meet Emperor Naruhito of Japan, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and several key ministers, including those in charge of defense, foreign affairs, economy, trade, and industry, for bilateral discussions.
Additionally, he will take part in the Sri Lanka Investment Forum organized in Tokyo by the Sri Lanka–Japan Business Council, aimed at strengthening economic and business ties between the two nations.
Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are accompanying the President on this official visit.
