According to investigations, when ASP Olugala left for Indonesia, information regarding his movements had been leaked through local police channels. This tip-off enabled Kehelbaddara Padme, Commando Salintha, and Kudu Nilanga to flee the hotel where they had been staying prior to their arrest.
Further inquiries uncovered that a red warrant issued by Interpol for Padme’s arrest had also been relayed to him in advance by the police. Investigators suspect that a criminal identified as Darun was informed about Olugala’s absence and had tracked his travel details using his phone number, confirming the trip abroad.
Police sources confirmed that during Padme’s arrest, officers discovered a photograph of the Interpol red warrant saved on his mobile phone, strengthening suspicions of an internal leak.
Authorities say the matter is now under further investigation to determine how highly confidential information was passed on to Padme and his associates.
