The Finance Committee of Parliament has formally requested President to raise the salary of the Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to match that of the President of the Court of Appeal.

Dr. Harsha de Silva, MP and Chairman of the Finance Committee, stated that although an agreement was reached in 2024 to equalize the salaries, it has not yet been implemented. He noted that the Court of Appeal President’s salary has increased since then, and the Bribery Commission Chairman’s salary should also be adjusted from January 2025.

Dr. de Silva added that the delay has resulted in unfair treatment for the Bribery Commission, with the current salary gap between the two positions now nearly double. He urged the President to take immediate action to correct this disparity.
