The funeral rites of the monk who tragically lost his life in a tree-related accident at the Na-Uyana Forest Monastery in Melsiripura are scheduled to take place today (27).
The remains of four monks involved in the incident were brought to the monastery yesterday (26). Meanwhile, preparations are underway to repatriate the body of a foreign monk who also succumbed to the accident, to his native country.
The Na-Uyana Forest Monastery, which stretches across nearly 5,000 acres, is regarded as one of the oldest forest monasteries in Sri Lanka. The monastery is divided into five main sections, with the central area situated at the foothills and meditation huts located about 300 meters away on the hilltops.
