The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (26) that indictments will be filed in the High Court against former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne and two others, over allegations of causing a loss exceeding Rs. 2.6 million to the government.
The case relates to the alleged irregular handing over of sand removal work at the Kirinda Fisheries Harbour to a Korean company.
The matter was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama, where Bribery Commission officials said indictments would follow upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
The named defendants in the case include former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne and former Fisheries Harbours Corporation Chairman Upali Liyanage. Both have been granted bail.
The case will be called again on January 30.
