The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning for strong winds and rough seas off parts of Sri Lanka’s coast, effective for 24 hours from 9:30 a.m. today (26).
According to the advisory, the affected sea areas extend from Galle to Pottuvil (via Matara and Hambantota) and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai (via Mannar).
These regions are expected to experience rough to very rough seas, with strong gusty winds reaching 55-65 kmph during the period.
Naval and fishing communities operating in the identified zones have been strongly advised to remain vigilant and take all necessary safety measures until the warning expires at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (27).
