Over 500 rounds of T-56 ammunition, allegedly hidden by underworld figure Mandinu Padmasiri, alias ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’, have been recovered near the Peliyagoda fish market.
Police also recovered four T-56 magazines and a micro pistol during the operation.
The discovery was made following interrogations by the Western Province Northern Crime Division.
‘Kehelbaddara Padme’ and several other members of his gang were recently arrested in Indonesia and have since been brought back to Sri Lanka for questioning.
