CSE maintains upward momentum with strong turnover

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) sustained its positive momentum on Thursday, with both key indices closing higher. The All-Share Price Index (ASPI) advanced by 182.61 points (+0.86%) to close at 21,521.06, while the S&P SL20 gained 21.52 points (+0.35%) to settle at 6,102.58.

Investor activity remained buoyant, supported by a healthy turnover of LKR 9.29 billion, with 261.28 million shares changing hands. Crossings accounted for LKR 1.75 billion, representing 18% of total turnover. The largest crossing by value was seen in CHOT.N at LKR 410 million, while UBC.N recorded the highest volume crossing with 25 million shares traded.

The Banking sector continued to dominate market activity, contributing 24% of total turnover. Notably, NTB.N emerged as the top contributor within the sector, generating LKR 674.28 million in turnover.
