The Sri Lanka Police has introduced several new telephone numbers for the public to provide information related to narcotics.
The public will be able to directly contact the mobile number of the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) in charge of their respective province to share details regarding heroin, “ice” (methamphetamine), cocaine, cannabis, and other illicit drugs that are spreading across the country.
The police statement emphasized that the confidentiality of informants will be strictly protected. It further noted that the respective SDIGs will take immediate legal action, including conducting raids and operations, based on the information received.
The Sri Lanka Police highlighted that the support of citizens is highly valued in eradicating the drug menace from the country. The names and mobile numbers of the SDIGs in charge of each province have been made available for this purpose.
