President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has arrived in New York to take part in the 80th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The President’s flight landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:50 a.m. (U.S. time) today, where he was warmly received by Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, former Chief Justice and President’s Counsel Jayantha Jayasuriya, along with members of the Sri Lankan delegation.
Accompanying the President on this official visit is Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.
The President is scheduled to deliver his address to the UN General Assembly today (24) at 3:15 p.m. local time.
In addition to his speech, President Dissanayake is expected to hold bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and several world leaders. He is also set to participate in a special gathering with members of the Sri Lankan diaspora in the United States.
