Popular tele-drama and film actor Nalin Pradeep Udawela passed away this morning (23) at the age of 56 while receiving treatment at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, family sources confirmed.
Born on March 20, 1969, Udawela was a celebrated figure in Sri Lankan cinema, stage, and television, and also served as a Western Provincial Councilor.
He made his film debut in 1998 with Julietge Bhumikawa directed by Jackson Anthony, and gained fame through productions such as Tharaka Mal, Parawarthana, and Asai Man Piyabanna.
Udawela also earned acclaim on stage with performances in plays like Kelani Palama, Megha, Mandela Mandela, and Suddek Oba Amathai, while winning the hearts of television audiences through serials including Api Apa Athara, Chakrandi, and Ehipillamak Yata.
He leaves behind a rich legacy in the arts and public service, remembered for his versatility and dedication.
