Today marks one year since Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office as the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka, following his victory at the Presidential Election held on September 21, 2024.

At the election, Dissanayake secured 5,740,179 votes, winning the mandate to lead the country.

Reflecting on his first year in office, several key achievements stand out. These include stabilizing the economy, maintaining strong fiscal discipline, increasing government revenue, boosting export earnings, strengthening tourism income, improving foreign remittances, enhancing port operations revenue, and increasing customs revenue.

On governance, his administration emphasized the rule of law and institutional independence, passed new legislation, and implemented measures to combat narcotics and organized crime. On the diplomatic front, significant steps were taken to strengthen Sri Lanka’s foreign relations.

Overall, the first year of President Dissanayake’s tenure is highlighted as a period of economic stabilization, reforms, and governance improvements.
