Traffic Restrictions in Bingiriya Due to Annual Perahera Festival

Bingiriya Police announced that traffic movement within the Bingiriya Police Division will be restricted today (20) due to the annual Perahera Festival of the Devagiri Raja Maha Viharaya.

Accordingly, motorists are requested to use alternative routes during the period of restrictions.

Perahera Schedule and Route:

Time: From 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Route: The Perahera will proceed along the Halawatha–Kurunegala main road, from Bowatta Junction to Thalgahapitiya Junction. It will commence near Bingiriya Saranankara National School and conclude at the Devagiri Raja Maha Viharaya.

Alternative Routes:

Vehicles traveling from Halawatha towards Kurunegala:

From Thalgahapitiya Junction, proceed towards Wellarawa, then turn left at Wellarawa Thalgahamul Junction towards Kaduruwawa Junction. From there, turn right, pass Horagasara Navarathna Junction via Rukattanawatta Road, continue to Kadigamuwa Junction, turn left onto Bowatta Road, and rejoin the Halawatha–Kurunegala main road.

Vehicles traveling from Kurunegala towards Halawatha:

From Bowatta Junction, proceed along Kuliyapitiya Road, turn right at Kadigamuwa Junction onto Rukattanawatta Road, continue to Navarathna Junction, and turn right towards Bingiriya. From there, proceed via Kaduruwawa Junction along Wellarawa Road, turn right at Thalgahapitiya Junction, and rejoin the Kurunegala–Halawatha main road.
