Female drivers and conductors to join SLTB

Speaking to SLTB workers, the Minister said interviews are currently being held and emphasized the importance of providing protection and sanitary facilities for female employees before their deployment to depots.

He explained that the first phase of the initiative will assign female staff to school buses in the Colombo district, with gradual expansion planned for other areas.

“We have even designed a uniform at air hostess level. We need to uplift standards in this way so the younger generation will see the SLTB as an attractive workplace,” Rathnayake said.
