Former TNA MP Thanmanpillai Kanagasabai Passes Away at 86

Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Member of Parliament for the Batticaloa District, Thanmanpillai Kanagasabai, passed away yesterday (19) at the age of 86.

Kanagasabai, a long-time resident of Kaluthavalai in Batticaloa, was a retired government official before entering politics. He entered Parliament in 2004, contesting the General Election from the Batticaloa District under the Tamil National Alliance banner. At the time, he secured the highest number of preferential votes in the district, earning his place in the legislature.

He is remembered both for his contributions as a public servant and his role in representing the people of Batticaloa in Parliament.
