Developed with the technical expertise of Sri Lankan engineers, the satellite highlights the country’s growing capability in modern space technology. The project is a collaborative initiative between the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT) and Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.
The BIRDS-X DRAGONFLY is equipped to conduct three primary space research missions, strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in international satellite development and boosting local expertise in aerospace engineering.
Officials noted that this milestone not only showcases Sri Lankan scientific and technical talent but also paves the way for greater participation in global space exploration projects in the future.
