Former Navy Intelligence Director, Retired Rear Admiral Sarath Mohotti, has been remanded until September 24 after being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with multiple abduction and disappearance cases.
He was produced before the Polgahawela Magistrate’s Court, which ordered his remand custody.
According to the CID, the suspect is being investigated in connection with several high-profile incidents, including the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths from Colombo and its suburbs in 2008. He is also linked to the disappearance of a youth who was allegedly abducted by officers at the Alawwa Police Station in 2010, as well as another case involving the abduction and disappearance of a youth in Trincomalee.
