Sri Lanka’s passport has slipped one place in the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, ranking 97th globally.

Sri Lanka now shares the 97th position with Iran, granting its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 41 destinations. This marks a slight decline from 2024, when the country was ranked 96th.

The Henley Passport Index, widely considered the world’s most authoritative passport ranking, evaluates 199 passports against 227 travel destinations, based on the number of countries accessible without a prior visa.

This year’s results highlight the competitive nature of global mobility, with Sri Lanka continuing to lag behind regional counterparts in terms of travel freedom.
