Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sathish Gamage, Acting Director of the Police Cultural Division, has been further remanded until September 30 on bribery charges.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama, who also rejected a bail application submitted by the suspect’s legal counsel.
SSP Gamage was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with allegations of accepting bribes totaling approximately Rs. 14 million. The bribes were allegedly obtained from drug traffickers, organized criminals, and members of the public in exchange for services or protection.
