Sunil Watagala files CID complaint over defamatory social media post

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Deputy Minister condemned the claim—which alleged he had purchased a house in a housing complex in Colombo—as completely untrue and aimed at damaging his reputation.

“This is baseless and defamatory propaganda,” Watagala stated, adding that such claims are intended to erode the public trust placed in him and his political party.

He further said that legal action will be taken under both civil and criminal law against individuals responsible for creating and spreading the false content.
