The government has commenced the use of digital signatures for submitting letters and documents to public institutions, Minister of Public Administration Chandana Abeyratne announced.
The initiative, already in operation at 25 District Secretariats and 25 Divisional Secretariats, is being implemented from the level of Grama Niladhari officers up to the Ministry of Public Administration.
The Minister highlighted this development while addressing officials of the Home Affairs Division of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government during a digital signature orientation session held yesterday (15).
He emphasized that digitizing the public service and moving it towards modernization is a key priority of the government. Plans are also underway to extend this program to other Divisional Secretariat offices islandwide in the coming months.
