
Cloudy skies can be expected in some parts of the island

The Department of Meteorology announces that cloudy skies can be expected over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions against possible damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas Forecast
Rain: Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle. A few showers may also be experienced in the sea areas off the coast from Mullaittivu to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
Winds: South-westerly winds will prevail at speeds of 30–40 kmph. Wind speeds could increase up to 50–55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, and up to 45–50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast from Chilaw to Mannar via Puttalam.
State of Sea: The sea areas off Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota may turn rough at times, while seas off Chilaw to Mannar via Puttalam may be fairly rough.
Fishermen and naval personnel are urged to remain cautious under these conditions.
