Speed Bay, a part of the David Pieris Group of Companies, has brought the globally renowned Sodikart brand to Sri Lanka for the first time, with an exclusive launch event held recently at Waters Edge.

This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in motorsports entertainment in the country. Sodikart — a leading French kart manufacturer established in 1981 by Gildas Merian in Sautron near Nantes — is recognized worldwide for its innovation in both leisure and competitive karting. Since 1998, all Sodikart chassis have been designed and manufactured at its purpose-built facility in Couëron, France, adhering to the highest international standards.

With this launch, all vehicles at the Speed Bay Bandaragama Circuit will now feature Sodikart chassis. In addition, every driver will be equipped with professional-grade race suits and gear, elevating the overall experience and setting a new benchmark for karting in Sri Lanka.

Significantly, all Speed Bay participants will now be eligible to compete in the prestigious Sodi World Series (SWS) — one of the largest global karting competitions — allowing them to be ranked on the same international leaderboard alongside drivers from over 40 countries.

The unveiling of the Sodikarts was led by key members of the David Pieris Group of Companies, including President David Pieris; Group Chairman and Managing Director Rohana Dissanayake; Chairman of David Pieris Racing & Leisure (Pvt.) Ltd and David Pieris City Developments (Pvt.) Ltd, Eshan Pieris; and Sodikart Asia Director Alex Tawil.
