Investigations in the Middeniya area have revealed that 17 out of 20 chemical samples taken from the land contain substances used in the production of the drug Ice, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) has confirmed.
Around 50,000 kilograms of these chemicals were discovered on September 6 by the Western North Crime Division during investigations into suspects Kehelbaddara Padme and Kudu Nilanga. The findings emerged following interrogations of Bako Saman, who was arrested in Indonesia alongside Padme.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, Director of the Western North Crime Division, and Chief Inspector Linton Silva, OIC. Collected samples were sent to the NDDCB and the Government Analyst's Department for testing. The NDDCB’s report on the samples was handed over to the police last Friday.
