Police have announced traffic restrictions in Wadduwa, Talpitiya, due to the annual Dalada Perahera of the Sri Daladawatta Purana Viharaya, which is scheduled to parade the streets today (13).

The procession, featuring nearly 100 segments including elephants and traditional dance troupes, is expected to draw a large crowd of devotees, according to police.

Accordingly, traffic movement in the Wadduwa police division along the Colombo–Galle main road is likely to be severely congested between 7:00 p.m. today (13) and 1:00 a.m. tomorrow (14). Police have urged motorists and the public to use the following alternative routes:

For vehicles traveling from Colombo towards Galle:

From Panadura Clock Tower, take the Horana Road via Alubomulla to Bandaragama. From Bandaragama junction, turn right to the Moronthuduwa Road and proceed through Wadiya Mankada junction, then turn left towards Kalutara and continue to Galle.

For vehicles traveling from Galle towards Colombo:

From Wadiya Mankada junction in Kalutara North Police Division, turn right to the Moronthuduwa Road towards Bandaragama. From Bandaragama junction, turn left via Alubomulla to Panadura, then at Panadura Clock Tower junction, turn right towards Colombo.
