The former Chairman of the Wattegama Municipal Council, Ravindra Kumara, has been arrested along with a close associate for the possession of two illegally imported jeeps.
Police said the 58-year-old former chairman was taken into custody together with 38-year-old businessman Lakshitha Manoj. The two suspects were arrested during a special operation and are currently being questioned regarding the illegal importation of the vehicles.
