Suspect Arrested Over Borella Double Murder at Sahaspura Playground

Police stated that during the arrest, 10 grams and 710 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) along with a motorcycle were seized from the suspect.

The incident occurred on August 7, 2025, when two people were shot dead and three others injured at the Sahaspura Sirisara Uyana playground. The investigations were carried out by the Special Raids Unit of the Sri Jayawardenepura Police Special Task Force.

The arrest was made yesterday (12) afternoon. Reports indicate that the suspect, aged 34, is a former Army officer who had deserted duty.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Dematagoda Police.
