
Traffic Restrictions in Maharagama Due to Esala Perahera

Accordingly, vehicular movement will be limited from 7:30 PM tomorrow until 3:00 AM the following morning.
The perahera will commence from Vipassanarama Temple and proceed along Vipassanarama Road, Dehiwala Road, past the Maharagama Depot, and turn right at Vidyakara Mawatha, continuing along Vidyakara Mawatha to the High-Level Road. From there, it will turn left onto Alhena Road, pass the Maharagama Clock Tower, and return to the temple via Dehiwala Road.
Police have advised motorists to use the following alternative routes during the perahera:
Vehicles traveling towards Colombo on High-Level Road may use the Old Road via Janadhipathi Junction. Vehicles heading to Dehiwala, Piliyandala, and Boralesgamuwa can take the left turn from Janadhipathi Junction.
Vehicles heading towards Kottawa on High-Level Road can use the Old Road. Those traveling towards Boralesgamuwa, Dehiwala, and Piliyandala can proceed via Wattegedara Junction along Wattegedara Road.
Vehicles from Boralesgamuwa towards Maharagama and Kottawa can proceed via Weva Road through Wattegedara.
Vehicles from Piliyandala towards Maharagama, Kottawa, or Colombo can proceed via the road adjacent to Sombo Hotel.
Police request the public to strictly follow these alternative routes to minimize traffic congestion during the perahera.
