A Police Constable attached to the Karathivu Police Station in Ampara was arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a businessman.
The Bribery Commission stated that the Constable had demanded the money to return a revenue licence belonging to a businessman from Sainthamaruthu, which was taken into police custody, without any legal charges.
The Constable was arrested at the police station and is scheduled to be produced before the Sammanthurai Magistrate’s Court.
