A mother and son have been brutally hacked to death inside their home in the Kotawela area of the Karandeniya Police Division.
Police said the victims were a 75-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son, who was employed as a three-wheeler driver transporting school children.
The killings are believed to have taken place while the two were inside the house. However, the motive behind the murder and the identity of those responsible remain unknown at this stage.
Karandeniya Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
