Train services along the Upcountry Railway Line have been disrupted this morning (11) after the derailment of the ‘Podi Manike’ train.
The incident occurred between the Badulla and Haliela railway stations while the train was en route from Badulla to Kandy and Colombo Fort, the Department of Railways confirmed.
As a result, delays are expected in train operations along the Upcountry Railway Line until services are restored. Railway officials stated that necessary measures are being taken to clear the line and resume normal train schedules as soon as possible.
