India got off to a flying start in the 2025 Asia Cup with a commanding nine-wicket victory over hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai.
Winning the toss, India opted to bowl first and their bowlers justified the decision by dismissing UAE for just 57 runs. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred with figures of 4 wickets, while all-rounder Shivam Dube chipped in with three scalps to dismantle the hosts.
In reply, India made light work of the modest target of 58. Young opener Abhishek Sharma blasted a quickfire 30 off 16 balls to set the tone. Shubman Gill (20* off 9) and Suryakumar Yadav (7* off 2) then sealed the chase in only 4.3 overs, with 97 balls to spare.
With this emphatic win, India opened their Asia Cup campaign on a dominant note, underlining their status as tournament favourites.
