The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama that indictments have been filed before the High Court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his wife, three daughters, and son-in-law.
The Commission said the indictments have been filed against former Minister Keheliya Bandara Dissanayake Rambukwella; his wife, Kusum Priyadarshani Appawila Eheyeva; daughters Chamithri Jayanika Rambukwella, Chandula Ramali Rambukwella, and Amali Nayanika Rambukwella; and son-in-law Isuru Pulasthi Bandara Polgasdeniya.
Following the Commission’s submissions, the Chief Magistrate ordered the conclusion of proceedings before the Magistrate’s Court relating to the matter.
According to the indictment, the alleged offences occurred during Rambukwella’s tenure as Minister of Mass Media, Health, and Environment between 2021 and 2023. He is accused of appointing several associates to his private staff and misusing their official salaries and overtime payments—funded by the respective ministries—for personal and political purposes. The alleged actions caused a financial loss exceeding Rs. 8 million to the State.
